Trump's Tariff on India is an Overreaction that Hurts More than It Helps.

Image
On July 30, 2025, President Trump announced a 25% tariff on all goods coming in from India , effective August 1, 2025. This is in addition to a 10% tariff on all goods that has already been imposed this year via the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). Upon the president's notions, this is to bolster American industry and American hands-on payment. He's upset that Indians are charging Americans high prices for American-based items, and with India's trade barriers being "strenuous and obnoxious" and Africa being a failing nation that won't comply with American decrees on using Russian military weapons and energy in the war between Russia and Ukraine , it is suggested that Indians get a taste of American ire. However, as a global citizen who believes that trade should be something that brings people together as opposed to driving a wedge between one another, this knee-jerk reaction is...

🇺🇸 Trump Imposes 25 Percent Tariff on Indian Imports

By [Dr PK Padhi-International Relations Analyst] | July 30, 2025 President Donald J. Trump has officially imposed a 25% tariff on all imports from India starting August 1, 2025 , raising the blood pressure of investors worldwide. Why? Because “all is not well,” only two days after his second inauguration, addressing Russia 's continued connection with India's defense and the Indian government collaborations buying “large quantities of military equipment and oil from Russia” instead of U.S. goods. What does this mean for the United States and other foreign nations? It means this is not a political situation. This is personal. And it's international. Getting to Know the New Old Face Regardless of how Americans feel about Trump now that he reclaim his position back in January 2025 , many have to face the reality of an unprecedented political endeavor. Now, within mere days of reign, he's already making moves, but it's not to suggest that the train to correction i...

Leading or Lagging? U.S. Foreign Policy in the 21st Century — Trump’s Second Term Begins

Image
The "America First" doctrine is no longer a campaign slogan — it's the global reality, again. As Donald J. Trump begins his second term in the White House, the world braces for a renewed and more assertive wave of U.S. foreign policy disruption. Gone are the debates of “what if?” Now, the United States — under Trump’s revived leadership — is actively reshaping its global footprint, shifting alliances, and redefining its role in an increasingly unstable world. So, is America leading the 21st-century world—or steadily falling behind the curve of global cooperation? 🌐 A Changed World, A Familiar President Trump returns to the Oval Office in a world vastly different from the one he left in January 2021. The Russia-Ukraine war grinds on. China has tightened its grip on global trade and tech. The Middle East remains volatile. NATO is fragile. Global climate efforts are in crisis. And yet, Trump’s approach is strikingly similar to his first term: tough rhetoric, transactional...

The U.S.-EU Trade Agreement: What's in it For You and U.S. Companies?

Image
On July 28, 2025, after months of speculation and negotiation, the United States struck a trade agreement with the European Union intended to reduce tensions between the powers. The agreement enacted a 15% tariff on most goods transferred to the U.S. from the EU—now mandated to occur allegedly—with most goods subject to a 30% tariff that was going to be incorrectly imposed on non-specific types of industries and goods. While this is a temporary solution to much bigger problems, it supports trade relations for the time being. But what does it mean for the lay person? What does it mean for powers trading in the United States? This blog entry will explain in layman's terms so you can understand how it impacts your car purchase down the block or how it makes manufacturing easier for your American factory. What does the agreement include? Essentially, here is what's going on with the trade agreement:  The 15% tariff: The United States will impose a 15% tariff on most goods comi...

Protesting the Eighth Circuit Ruling: Context & Stakes

Image
In late July 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court issued an emergency stay halting a lower‑court decision by the Eighth Circuit that had removed the ability for private citizens to sue under Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act (VRA) in seven states—namely North Dakota , South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, and Arkansas  .That lower court had ruled that only the U.S. Department of Justice—not private individuals or tribal groups—could enforce Section 2, drastically narrowing the primary mechanism used for decades to challenge discriminatory maps and election laws  . Indigenous groups—including the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and the Spirit Lake Tribe—had brought suit over a 2021 North Dakota redistricting plan that they say diluted Indigenous voting power. A federal judge originally sided with them, leading to the election of Native American legislators. The Eighth Circuit reversed the decision on procedural grounds, not on the merits—raising alarms about the viabil...

Fire and Strategy: What the Israel–Iran Clash Reveals About U.S.–China Power Pla

Image
Late June 2025 saw a sharp escalation in the Israel–Iran conflict: Israel launched powerful airstrikes targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites, and the U.S. backed those strikes with B‑2 bombers and Tomahawk missiles. The 12‑day war, which ended in a fragile ceasefire around June 24, has left global powers assessing their roles and recalibrating strategies around influence, restraint, and force. This episode showcases the profound divergence between American muscle and Beijing’s soft power calculus. 1. U.S. Military Leverage: Heavy Shots, Strategic Sequencing On June 22, the Trump administration authorized military action against Iran's nuclear infrastructure—including sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—using stealth bombers and naval missiles. The Pentagon reports these strikes set Iran’s nuclear capabilities back 1–2 years Golden Mart+14AP News+14Chatham House+14 Wikipedia . 🌼 Still Human, Still Heard: U.S. Views on Abortion Rights in 2025

Image
Three years after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, America’s stance on abortion remains complex. The fight has shifted from whether it should be legal to how, when, and where it should be protected. That constant feels deeply personal. 1. A Majority Still Supports Legal Abortion—But Temperature Has Dropped The July 10–14, 2025 AP–NORC poll shows 64% of American adults believe abortion should be legal in “all or most cases”—a slight dip from the 70% high-water mark last year. Yet this remains essentially unchanged from the 63–64% during 2022–2023, echoing pre-Dobbs levels LinkedIn+11AP News+11AP News+11 . Half of respondents said abortion should even be available in their state if someone simply doesn’t want to be pregnant—mirroring sentiment from before the Supreme Court’s decision LiveNOW+3AP News+3The Guardian+3 . That’s not just numbers—it’s recognition of deeply personal choices. 2. When — Exceptional Approval Across the Board Not all abortions are viewed equa...

🇹🇼 The Taiwan Issue: Past, Present, and the Storm Brewing on the Horizon

Image
🌏 A Small Island with a Giant Shadow Taiwan might be just a dot on the map, but it punches far above its weight. Home to 23 million people, a thriving democracy, and the world’s most advanced chipmaker (TSMC), Taiwan is more than a regional player—it’s a global pivot point. But behind its bustling cities and vibrant culture lies a decades-long tension that’s once again boiling over. As of July 2025, Taiwan sits on the fault line of one of the most volatile geopolitical disputes on the planet. Let’s take a step back—and then a big step forward—to understand how we got here, where things stand today, and what the world is doing (or not doing) about it. 🏯 Taiwan’s History: A Long Road to Ambiguity 📜 Indigenous Roots & Colonial Pasts Taiwan's story starts with its indigenous peoples, long before foreign flags ever landed. Is the DOJ Gambling that Ghislaine Maxwell will Give up Information on the Epstein Run?

Image
For more than a decade, Jeffrey Epstein has meant sex trafficking, political intrigue, and mysteries. An albatross around the necks of American politics and media, Epstein's operations presented like a continuous load of who what when where how and why plastered across the minds of those attempting to create some order from the chaos of complicated wrongdoing. But this week, everything changed. On July 22, 2025, the Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche declared during a live announcement that the DOJ is planning a sit-down with Ghislaine Maxwell. Ghislaine used to be Epsteins powerful right-hand woman. She is currently in prison herself—for twenty years—for sex trafficking related violations; yet, politically, legally, and socially charged, she's never been a value added criminal to society until now. Someone from the DOJ personally wants to meet with her as she may hold information not yet disclosed to the public or authorities which could implicate others in the Epstein sex ...
